"Shawty"
A High-Level Offstring Model for Serious Competitors
We are proud to introduce "Shawty," the latest signature model of
mowl Ambassador František Procházka (Fery),
a two-time EYYC 4A Division Champion known for his extreme performance style and captivating stage presence.
Designed for offstring players who demand top-level performance,
"Shawty" will be officially released on Friday, May 9th.

Development Story
After competing on the world stage at the 2023 World Yo-Yo Contest in Osaka,
Fery returned to the Czech Republic with a renewed drive to evolve.
Wasting no time, he approached a friend skilled in CAD design to begin drafting his vision for a new signature model.
The design blueprint for “Fery’s ideal offstring yo-yo” was later handed over to mowl®’s design team
in the winter of 2024 — during the time Fery was in Japan to celebrate the opening of mowl Osaka.
His initial concept featured a stainless steel rim,
but after evaluating the balance and regeneration aspects,
the mowl® design team raised a critical question:
“Does this yo-yo truly need to be a bi-material model?”
Through continued discussion and prototyping,
it was eventually decided not to use a metal rim.
However, based on Fery’s recent freestyle trends —
which include regenerations, threading the yo-yo through tight spaces,
and full-body movement — we made sure the diameter wouldn't get in the way.
The original design direction—smaller diameter than Flex, but with a wider body—was preserved,
honoring Fery’s preferences while maintaining the core strengths of Flex as a regeneration-focused model.
The result: a new model built with greater precision and tailored to meet the demands of an extreme player like Fery.
Shawty: Shape & Performance
Most offstring models tend to have larger diameters to ensure spin power,
balanced with added width to enhance control.
But Shawty takes a different approach —
blending 1A design trends into the world of 4A.
With its wide width paired with a smaller diameter,
Shawty allows for quicker, more responsive regenerations,
making it perfectly suited for modern freestyle and body movement-oriented play.

In terms of shape, while Flex features a rounder profile with more R-curves,
Shawty takes a bold step in the opposite direction —
its profile is made up of almost entirely straight lines.
If we were to describe Flex as having a step-round body,
then Shawty would be defined by a step-straight construction.
As mentioned earlier, Shawty is designed with a clear focus on regeneration performance.
The updated shape allows the yo-yo to sit more comfortably against the fingers,
greatly improving its suitability for tricks that involve top-on elements,
a style that Fery frequently showcases in his freestyle routines.
On the structural side, the use of stainless steel spacers significantly improves the yo-yo’s overall durability.
What’s more, the smaller-than-usual size of the stainless spacers contributes to a more focused, solid feel during play —
giving Shawty its distinct sense of control and precision.

Comparison with Other Offstring Models
Among offstring yo-yos, Shawty stands out for its exceptionally high controllability.
For players who are skilled at managing fine movements, it becomes a powerful tool.
However, for those less experienced, it may feel too fast and sharp to control.
Unlike models that spin effortlessly on their own, Shawty demands a certain level of precision.
It was deliberately engineered for speed and responsiveness,
making it a model that rewards technical ability and refined control.
Because of this, Shawty is best suited for contest-level players —
those who can construct solid freestyles, or players like Fery,
who push the boundaries with unorthodox tricks and unique flow.
For reference, we’ve outlined the key differences between Shawty and mowl®︎ Anarchy,
a model designed for beginner to intermediate and advanced players.
Please use this comparison to help find the offstring model that best fits your level and style.

Available Colors
Shawty will be available in four colorways:
three feature double-color combinations with hubs matching the body color,
and one special edition in white, paired with T-Green hubs —
a signature color representing Fery’s image.
Shawty - White / Polished T-Blue Hub
Shawty - Black / Polished Black Hub
Shawty - Red / Polished Red Hub
Shawty - Green / Polished Green Hub

Message from Fery
The idea to create a brand-new offstring yo-yo goes back to September 2023.
After competing at the World Yo-Yo Contest in Osaka,
I was feeling super motivated — I knew it was the right time to add something new to my 4A style.
That same month, I visited a yo-yo friend in Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic.
He's great with CAD software and had already made some really cool prototype designs.
At first, I had no intention of designing a new yo-yo —
but little by little, we started shaping a model based on my ideas.
When it finally came together, it turned out exactly how I imagined,
and I was super excited to show it to Eiji!
As for the yo-yo itself — this isn’t just a small adjustment to a previous model.
It’s a completely different throw with a brand-new feel.
Shawty is slightly heavier than Flex, with a similar width.
The biggest difference is the diameter —
Shawty is more compact, which makes it especially good for technical tricks.
Even so, it’s still big enough to handle aerials and regenerations with no problem.
We also switched the spacer material from aluminum to steel,
which really improved the overall feel.
That added weight gives it a more solid, reliable touch —
it just feels better and more in control when you’re playing.
