Development Background of Infiltrate Ti

In the spring of 2023, during his attendance of the Pacific Northwest Regional Yo-Yo Championship (PNWR) in the United States,, Eric Tran-Ton had the opportunity to explore various new yo-yos at the event's booths. He observed that numerous titanium models had been released since his return to competitive yo-yoing. However, despite their quality craftsmanship, none offered a groundbreaking experience. Reflecting on this, Eric noted, "They were all well-made, but none elicited a 'wow' factor." This realization sparked the development of the Infiltrate Ti, aiming to create a distinctive titanium yo-yo that stands out in performance and innovation.

Challenges for the Update

Eric’s requests for the Infiltrate Ti centered on several key points.

During that year’s PNWR, most titanium models Eric tried felt notably light, with spins that lacked a certain solidity. For him, the most critical factor was weight distribution. He wanted the weight to be concentrated more toward the rims, envisioning an ideal weight similar to the 7075 version of the Infiltrate.

Regarding its shape, the classic design of the 7075 Infiltrate was crucial to this update. Eric has a preference for rounded shapes, so maintaining this aspect was essential. However, the width of the design, although providing a comfortable grip, was narrower than more modern yo-yos, making certain tricks harder to land. For this update, Eric hoped to address this by slightly widening the model.

Performance of the Infiltrate Ti:

Compared to the 7075 Infiltrate, the Infiltrate Ti retains the same weight while extending the width by approximately 2mm, meeting the needs of modern players with a larger catch zone that facilitates more complex tricks.

Below are Eric’s thoughts on its playability:

“I feel that the Infiltrate Ti embodies the perfect yo-yo. It’s incredibly powerful, with each throw connecting firmly at the end of the string. You can sense its position on every mount, and the spin time is exceptional—it comes back with as much energy after a 30-45 second combo as if it were freshly thrown. It’s one of the most stable yo-yos in my collection, handling dense technical tricks and popular horizontal maneuvers with ease.”

On the Artwork:

For the 7075 Infiltrate, the main logo featured a broken key, symbolizing “infiltration,” along with a double-faced spy motif. Additionally, inspired by Eric’s freestyle, a piano key pattern was integrated around the perimeter, further accentuating the design’s thematic depth.
