Round One: Gray
Supporting Your First Throw
mowl®’s First Beginner Model
“Round One”
This year marks the 9th anniversary of mowl®.
In November of last year, we opened our first flagship store, mowl Osaka, and with the steady growth of our business, we’ve been gradually planting roots in the city of Osaka.
Since launching full operations from our Osaka base, we’ve received many invitations to participate in events outside the yo-yo community.
However, we often had to decline—not because we didn’t want to be there, but because we didn’t have a beginner-friendly yo-yo to offer.
At mowl®-hosted events, we tried to accommodate newcomers by adding extra oil to our aluminum competition models to make them responsive.
While this workaround helped, it came with challenges: difficulty in handling, frequent maintenance, and a constant sense of limitation.
After years of facing these issues and learning from our encounters with so many first-time players, we finally gave shape to our vision.
That vision became Round One—our very first beginner model,
a yo-yo created from the ground up to reflect everything we’ve learned over the past nine years.
Built to Support Your First Throw

Round One is a beginner-friendly yo-yo created using 3D printing.
While mass production with molds is the standard approach in the industry,
we chose a different path—one that would allow us to truly understand what children and first-time players are looking for in a yo-yo,
by interacting with them directly and learning through experience.
Our goal was to create a yo-yo that could genuinely support someone’s very first step.
By leveraging the unique strengths of 3D printing, we made it possible to flexibly update the shape and specifications as needed—
a key advantage that helped us bring this vision to life.

Round One is carefully designed with a strong focus on usability, affordability, and safety so that anyone can start their yo-yo journey in a fun and stress-free way.
One Last Thing
The joy of gradually improving with each throw.
The excitement of discovering a whole new world with every trick you learn.
Round One was born from a desire to capture and celebrate those precious first moments.
The name “Round One” symbolizes a first round—your very first challenge.
At the same time, “round” reflects the very essence of yo-yos themselves—their shape, their spin, their motion.
Creating a beginner model has been a long-time dream and one of the biggest goals for mowl®.
We truly hope Round One brings a sense of comfort and excitement to anyone thinking,
"Maybe I’ll give yo-yoing a try."
May Round One be the starting point for your own yo-yo journey.
《Important Notes Regarding Round One》
About the Standard Response Pads
Round One comes equipped with either white or black response pads, both of which are within the standard specifications—so there is no need for concern.
These pads are compatible with D-size systems, commonly used throughout the yo-yo industry.
About the Cap Logo Color
Depending on the unit, the Round One logo printed on the cap may vary slightly in color.
This is part of the normal manufacturing process and not considered a defect.
About the Included String
Round One comes pre-installed with mowl String (Fat type), chosen to provide a balanced experience for both looping and string tricks.
If you mainly focus on string tricks, we recommend trying a thinner string such as the Normal type for optimal performance.
