A Competition Model Built for Real Play
More Than Affordable — Built to Perform When It Counts
“M Wide”

A new addition joins mowl’s flagship M series:
M Wide, a competition model built with true performance in mind.
Available from Saturday, June 27.
"M Wide"
Diameter : 54 mm
Width : 53.5 mm
Weight : 67.5 ± 0.5 grams
<Development Background>
At mowl Osaka, the physical store opened in 2024,
mowl producer Okuyama witnessed the daily growth of younger players firsthand.
With those players in mind — especially those beginning to take on freestyle for competition —
he asked the design team to develop
a relatively accessible competition model
that would still be ready for serious play.
With 7075 aluminum chosen as the material favored by competitive players,
the team developed a total of four prototypes
in pursuit of a competition model that could deliver performance beyond its price.
-1st / 2nd Prototype-

The very first prototype, the 1st Prototype (left),
had a relatively large overall size.
For the 2nd Prototype (right),
the team applied what they had learned from developing M Light
to set the weight balance and create
“a wide, small-diameter model that feels easy to move.”
While this secured maneuverability,
there were still challenges in terms of spin performance and weight as a competition model.
-3rd Prototype-

In the 3rd Prototype, the team adjusted the weight balance,
increased the actual weight, and changed the shape of the catch zone.

At this stage, the performance had already reached a level
that made commercialization a real option,
but as the play feel was tested more extensively over time,
the added heaviness became a concern,
leading to the development of the 4th Prototype.
-4th Prototype-

In the 4th Prototype (the production version),
the actual weight was kept the same, but the internal weight balance was refined
to eliminate the heavy feel in play, drawing on insights gained from the development of M Ti.
As a result, M Wide retains some of the original M’s core feel while also developing
a play feel that comes close to M Ti.

The catch zone shape was carried over unchanged from the 3rd Prototype,
while the entire internal weight balance was reworked from the ground up,
resulting in an exceptionally well-balanced model that feels surprisingly free of heaviness.
<Play Feel>
Packed with the elements required for modern competition play, M Wide
uses its thick rims to reduce the sense of heaviness on the throw,
delivering a play feel close to that of a bi-metal Yo-Yo.
Its heavier actual weight, designed with stage performance in mind, greatly improves trick stability,
making it especially well suited for horizontal and hop tricks.
<Artwork>

The owl and meander pattern, the main motifs of the M series,
have been carried through each model as symbols of the flagship line.
M Wide inherits those traditional motifs as well,
preserving the identity of the series
while introducing a sharper, stronger, and more defined presence.
It gives M Wide an expression that reflects both its power and its competitive tension,
creating a look worthy of a new performance-driven competition model.
<Release Color>
M Wide / Clear
Clear is a colorway that makes the most of the raw body’s natural expression
by applying clear anodizing over the raw finish.
It lets you enjoy the metallic character unique to raw aluminum and the beauty of the machined finish as they are,
while also making the model easy to handle without worrying about oxidation or daily maintenance.
The result is a clean and refined finish
that lets the presence of the material speak for itself.
