To mark mowl’s 10th anniversary,
the new X — updated for today’s standard of play — will be released on Friday, July 3 at the mowl International Online Store.

＜Development Background＞

At the milestone of mowl’s 10th anniversary — marked by the Roman numeral X — the decision was made to revive X, refining the model first released four years ago into a form that meets the demands of modern play.

The original X, released four years earlier, was developed as a brass-rim variation of the previous-generation Q introduced in 2020. With this update, that core concept of “a brass-rim version of Q” remains intact, while the design now carries forward the design language of the new Q released in April 2026.　

＜Design＞

A Challenge in Round Shape, Brass Rims, and a Wide, Small-Diameter Profile

A round-profile Yo-Yo with inner brass rims is already an uncommon structure in the market, and pushing that format wider would normally result in a much larger overall body.

By taking on that conventional limitation, X achieves both the distinctive contrast unique to a brass-rim model and a strong sense of unity between the body and the rims — resulting in a new kind of brass-rim Yo-Yo that could only come from mowl.

A Form Based on the New Q

The new X inherits the core design of the new Q, from its overall form and curve profile to its exact dimensions, and was developed as a character variation of Q.

By adjusting the balance between the polycarbonate body and the rims, X reduces the overly plastic feel often associated with PC bodies, while avoiding the fatigue that can come with metal models and still delivering a powerful throw.

＜Play Feel＞

While carrying forward the core feel of the original X, the new version delivers a smoother throw and lets you fully enjoy the light, easy character unique to polycarbonate.

With changes to the hub size and overall shape, it brings the power of the original into a more modern spec without losing what made it so distinctive.

Above all, it has very little quirkiness, making it an easy, natural fit for casual play.

The main motif of the special artwork created to commemorate mowl’s 10th anniversary gives X an added sense of occasion as it returns at this milestone moment.

The color options take a simple, minimal approach, making the most of the translucent character unique to the polycarbonate body.
